NHL Makes Big Splash!

The NHL signings kicked off yesterday and what a fury of activity it was. The first deal of the day was Daniel Briere signing with the Philadelphia Flyers for eight years and $52 million. Chris Drury and Scott Gomez signed mega-dollar deals with the NY Rangers and Ryan Smith, "Captain Canada" is no longer in Canada, signing with the Avs.

My Leafs dipped into the pool and signed Jason Blake to a five year-20 million dollar deal. This should be good news for leaf's fans because Blake was a 40 goal scorer last season. He has grit, he's speedy and he can put the puck in the net. I realize his age is a bit of a concern but I think Blake was a late bloomer. He has at least 3-4 good years left in him and ANY player can falter after a year in this league. For that price it's worth the gamble. Did you know he was the ONLY 40 goal scorer in this year's FA pool? Given the deals people like Gomez and Briere are getting, I honestly think this could is a steal.

He probably won't score 40 goals this season either but I think 30 is a reasonable number with 60-70 points for the Blue and White. Nothing wrong with that especially given it'll make Mats a better player. Finally a goal scorer on the wing, which is something they desperately lacked for many years. Seriously I think Vesa and Blake added to an already improving Leafs team is a great start. Vesa will SURELY sign a large multi-year deal with Toronto in the next few weeks making Raycroft an expensive substitute from the bench. Hopefully this will work in TO's favor much like the Kipper deal for Calgary did a few years back. It was almost the exact same situation, San Jose trades their backup finnish goaltender to Calgary for a bunch of draft picks. Numbers were pretty similar (lets face it, Vesa could have easily been the starter going into the playoffs, he played incredible) and Calgary ended up benefiting pretty good from the deal. I think the Leafs are gonna see if Lightning strikes twice.

In other NHL news, a few more teams are back in business... or it appears that way. St. Louis signed Captain Keith back to a 2 year-8 million dollar deal. Kariya also signed with the Blues, who look to be making a push for the playoffs after many years of being picked on in a very tough western conference. The New York Rangers, who at this time are making the biggest splash signing 2 of the top 3 centers in the UFA market.

The Oilers made a different splash, sending longtime captain Jason Smith and Joffrey Lupul to the Flyers for Joni Pitkanen and Geoff Sanderson (Plus a 3rd rounder next year). This COULD be a steal underneath the face of Edmonton loosing MORE players who are the heart and soul of the team (loosing Ryan Smyth was tough enough) with Pitkanen a former number 4 pick overall, and just entering his prime. He really could be the new Chris Pronger if he pans out to his potential and that is something Edmonton really needs. They are building from the ground up and you can't blame Kevin Lowe for that.

That's all the news for today, love to hear your comments on these deals!

WWE Great Benoit Found Dead with Wife and Kid

Wow, I am absolutely in complete shock. Chris Benoit, fellow Canadian and WWE Superstar was found dead in his home just outside of Atlanta, Georgia. Along with him are is wife and 7 year old son, both dead in an apparent murder-suicide. I really didn't expect to her this today when I woke up!

I really believe sometimes the pressure of stardom really gets to a person. Benoit I am sure had a pretty good life, at least on the outside. Wife and kid, WWE superstar, lots of money, but inside it has to be all different for some of these guys. To take out his wife and kid along with himself, I just don't really understand. I am sure there will be plenty more details next week when the autopsy is performed but as of now this is really bizarre.

Ill keep you posted as the new info comes along, in the meantime would love to hear your comments on this. I was a huge Benoit fan back in the day... although I don't follow WWE right now I did when he was first introduced into the WWE. I love the whole history with the Hart family, the fact he's a Canadian who really made it big in a tough market and I really feel its a such a sad loss... :(

My outlook on the future of the Miami Dolphins

With a new year comes new changes. The Dolphins have a new coach in Cam Cameron, and although their GM is returning, Mueller had very little power in the Nick Saban Era. The new coach and regime has decided to take the Dolphins into another direction, releasing many players and old school Dolphins and bringing in their own talent to work with.

We saw the likes of Randy McMichael being cut. Culpepper, although is still officially with the team is on his way out the door one way or another! Wes Welker is now a New England Patriot and it appears Cameron has no interest in keeping locker room Cancer Ricky Williams in the fold. Yes, the dolphins will look FAR different this season compared to last.

So what does all this mean for us fans?? Miami elected to take WR Ted Ginn Jr with the first round of the draft, absolutely SHOCKING the Miami fan base in thinking the Dolphins had Brady Quinn ready for the taking and passed... Miami instead elected to take John Beck as the quarterback of the future with a solid WR threat to throw the ball to. So far, many fans are already calling for Cameron's head.

Still, let's be fair and give these guys the benefit of the doubt. Cameron has a history with great quarterbacks. He coached two pro-bowlers the past two seasons in Brees and Rivers. He is sold by the fact Beck can win the big games, has the numbers, has the composure and most important is the best fit for his team.

If you were watching the draft unfold, you probably were enraged the same as everyone else. Why in the world would you take John Beck over Brady Quinn... and more important, who the hell is John Beck anyways? Without getting into too much detail and making my column a novel (not to mention beating a dead horse) I think after waiting, hearing about this fine QB and seeing his videos that the most fans have since changed their stance and is ready to give this new Era a chance in Miami!

Personally, I could not be more thrilled by the way our off season has come. Yes we missed out on overpaying underachievers, whether thats on the offensive line or WR. We did miss out on Stallworth, who never even had a 1000 yard season in his career, and didn't try to sign the big names but I will ask you fans WHY? Why over pay for guys who can't give you the championship anyways? In this league you must win through the draft and that is exactly what we are doing. We took our WR we desperately needed, now we have a core of Hagan, Chambers and Ginn. All with talent, and if Hagan plays to his potential, LOOK OUT for the Dolphins in the next few years. We no longer have Culpepper and Lemon as our QB's, we now have Trent Green with John Beck waiting in the wings.... how is this not good news??? Many people think Green is injury prone but I ask... without mentioning names, who would you rather have at the helm? A quarterback who hasn't played in basically two years, that needed to get his knee completely re-pieced and put back together? Or a QB who had a concussion and missed 1/2 a season? When you put it like that I think it's an easy decision.

Miami's future looks bright indeed. I am completely sold on this kid Beck. Look at his videos, look at his numbers, his shocking similarities to people like Steve Young. This guy will make us a championship. This TEAM will get us a championship. Our defense is set in stone and it looks good... our offense just got completely retooled, using the first 4 picks of the draft completely on offense. We have our core of WR's, we now have our QB situation set for the next at least 5 years (whether Beck is hero or bust - gotta give him a chance to prove himself), and I think we are poised to make a huge push for the playoffs.

Yes Miami Fans, the future looks bright indeed!! Let's bring on the pre-season!

Jags show interest in Culpepper

Well apparently the Jaguars are interesting to Daunte Culpepper, according to a report by ESPN.

Both quarterbacks on the Jags roster admitted that management has talked to them and Culpepper in on their radar.

It remains to be seen if the Jags will give up a draft pick for Culpepper, given he could force the Dolphins hand and be released to become a free agent.

Jacksonville already has Leftwich and Gerrard as QB's on their depth chart but both have been inconsistent.

Green in, Culpepper Out!

Wow, my apologies for not writing as often as usual. Work has just been incredibly busy so I only get the time to write 4-5 times a week (which is about half my usual). Still, Ill do my very best to give you an entertaining read every time out :)

As we all know by now, Trent Green is now a Miami Dolphin, and Culpepper is on his way out. There is no way Cameron is going to keep his 5.5 million dollar salary with Green and Beck on the roster. Not to mention Lemon who has shown signs of improvement. Nope, one way or another, Culpepper is not going to take another snap in a Miami uniform again.

So this has obviously sparked some debate.... give Culpepper a chance, let them fight it out they say. Honestly, I don`t really understand why! Culpepper has been injured for 2 years and although I figure personally he IS healed, I do not think he fits Cameron`s offense. Culpepper needs to air it out, like the days with the Vikings, so places like St. Louis, and Jacksonville makes a lot of sense. Green knows Cameron and his offense very well as it is, and getting him now means he won`t be late learning the new system with his teammates.

I also hear arguments about how Trent is always injured but in fact last year was the first time he was injured for a good number of years. He has always been healthy and on the field. Plus, a concussion isn`t something that puts you on the shelf for the long haul and the fact that it was the first game of the season, no wonder he struggled when he came back.

Nope, I really have a feeling that Miami will surprise some people this year. With a smart, healthy Trent Green throwing the ball (the same former pro-bowler who threw for 4000 yards 3 years in a row). Beck is waiting in the wings and will be the future star once Green is done, likely at the end of this season unless Miami is really struggling. September can`t come fast enough!

Senators are on the Ropes

The Anaheim Ducks are one win away from Lord Stanley. The Senators are one loss away to be still considered Hockey's "can't win in the playoffs" team.

The Senators had promise this year... they looked unbeatable after breezing to the finals. The Ducks proved why the West looks better this year and after another stellar game they only need to win once in the final 3 games to bring it all home.

What does this mean for our Ottawa team? Not good things Im afraid. Ottawa has been notorious for their choking ability in the playoffs. With plenty of first round exits for this young Senators team, this year was the surprise year they went very deep into the playoffs. This was their year!

Well Ottawa, lucky for you, there still is time. It isn't unheard of for a team to come back 3 games to 1 and win a series. As unlikely as it is, and the way the Ducks are playing you would think it's out of reach... still, you have to realize Ottawa will be digging DEEP, playing for their hockey lives to try to make this a series.

My personal prediction, Ottawa gives it all in game 5 and takes one on the road, only to loose game 6 in heartbreaking fashion. It is such a shame that 3 Canadian hockey teams (Calgary, Edmonton, and Ottawa) have been in the finals the past 3 NHL seasons and yet neither of them can pull it off. I always thought the third time's a charm and this was Ottawa's year.... maybe they will prove everyone wrong right now and pull it off. Looking forward to the next game!

Lind goes from Goat to Hero in Jays Win

Adam Lind went from the village Idiot to Toronto`s Hero in the span of one single inning today. After taking an early jump on Vernon Well`s Sac fly that scored Clayton, Lind took off from second before the ball was caught and was doubled off on second base to end the inning. The Jays had the bases loaded with only 1 out and only scored a single run.

The next inning Lind got his chance to strike back. After the first two Jays were set down in order the hitting started. 3 straight hits, the bases are juiced (still with 2 outs) and Adam Lind comes up to bat. After a superb at-bat, Lind did something that made every Jay fan watching forget all about the mishap. Lind smacks a pitch straight away center into the gap, clearing the bases and giving the Jays a 4-3 lead.

This was all the Blue Jays needed with their bullpen being incredible. Marcum left early with what appeared to be back strain, and Lyle Overbay got hit on the hand and had to leave the game. So although it wasn`t all great news, the was still some cheer for the Jays. The first is Lind`s sign of greatness as he matures into a fantastic hitter and the second is the Jays taking 3 out of 4 from a very good White Sox team and battling through, still coming out with a hard earned win.

Maybe the Jays` fortunes will turn. They have more injuries than most teams but the young kids are really starting to step up. Even if the injury bug bites them this year, there`s no reason to think they aren`t moving in the right direction. Let`s make a year out of it guys!

Kobe Wants out of LA

According to ESPN, Kobe Bryant wants out of Los Angeles and so far we don't know how serious his threats are.

Kobe is very upset with management, thinking that they aren't doing enough to win NOW. A lot of people think he's selfish but really, I think the man just wants to win. Yes he makes like a gazillion dollars but he is arguably the best player in the NBA and the Lakers would be bottom feeders without Kobe.

The biggest question is, who would take him? Kobe has a very high priced salary, and not a lot of teams can a) Afford him with their cap space b) have the resources to get him or c) even want him at all. The price for someone of Kobe's caliber is exceptionally high, a lot of teams simply won't part with their young stars for a guy like Kobe no matter how good he is.

So where could he end up? I think the best chance would be a place like Chicago or perhaps Boston... both has enough to pull the trigger if need be.

Still, when the dust settles I think Kobe will end up staying... still, we know how more often than not when a player isn't happy he usually gets his wish. Lets see if Kobe gets his.

A-Rod is a JOKE!!!

WOW! I don't even know what to say about this man. What a JOKE he is.

For those of you who didn't see the Blue Jays game, there was an easy pop-up that was easily caught by Howie Clark. There was 2 outs in the inning. As A-Rod was running by the shortstop he screamed something (most likely "CALL") and Clark backed off at the last second thinking McDonald was making the play. The ball drops right in front of Clark, everyone is safe, the run scores and the inning continues. This isn't Clark's fault because the shortstop always has priority in cases like this. So he simply thought Johnny Mac was calling him off.

The Jays bench almost erupted. Gibbons was out trying to convince the umpire, A-Rod had this dirty smirk on his face I'd love to smack off and everyone is just steaming. The Fans boo and the chants begin "A-Rod Sucks, A-Rod Sucks". Yes Toronto, A-Rod does suck. No matter if you love or hate the Jays, or any team for that matter, this is just poor, poor sportsmanship.

So I will say this again. A-Rod is a joke! He is the biggest, sorry excuse for a player I've ever seen. The Jays were only down by 1 run, A-Rod got scared that they may blow a short lead and the yankees blew it open in the 9th because he can't keep his big fat trap shut. This coming only one day after the New York Post reported A-Rod was seen in Toronto with some random blonde who was definitely NOT his wife. Way to go winner... so much talent and such a waste of space. I can guarantee you, the New York Post will be relentless tomorrow on this. Watch for it, I am caling it now!

Until next time,
One sincerely pissed Blue Jay Fan

Ducks Draw First Blood

The Senators may have been up 2-1 at the end of the 2nd and they looked like they were in control, but at the end of the day none of that mattered.

Anaheim scored early in the 3rd and then scored the game winner with about 3 minutes to go in the game, and even held off a 6 on 4 to preserve the win.

If this game was any indication on the series, we are really in for a treat. These teams played great hockey. Gigere and Emery were both excellent, Emery was even dazzling. Both definitely deserved to win but as we know this ain't how the sport works.

I am very excited to see the final 6 games (ya I think 7 is pretty reasonable) of this series... let's see if Canada can break the curse!

Rex Hadnot Moved to Right Guard

According to the Sun-Sentinel, Center Rex Hadnot is moving to Right Guard to join the group of left tackle Vernon Carey, left guard Chris Liwienski, right tackle L.J. Shelton and either Johnathan Ingram or rookie Samson Satele at center. Most likely, I would bet anything that Satele will beat Ingram out.

They drafted Satele in the 2nd round, and if you use a pick that high on a lineman you want him to be starting right away. Plus he's mean and he has attitude. Cameron also said, "Rex Hadnot can be as good a guard as I've been around, and that's a big plus for us," Cameron said. "If that light comes on there, look out, because we'll have us a heck of a player at right guard."

This is great news indeed. Cameron, who saw the brilliants of San Diego's offensive line and drafted key players such as McNeil, knows what it takes to be a good guard. Not to mention Hudson Hawk is the best there is, was and ever will be!!! =D

Point is, these guys know what they are doing. And having Rex at Guard (where he played for 3 years in college) and Satale at center they should really be able to open up some holes for Brown and Booker.

Now with Ginn taking returns, and Beck waiting in the wings, things are really looking up for the Miami Dolphins.

So it Will Be the Ducks And the Senators! Bring on Lord Stanley

So there we have it! After the Anaheim Ducks defeated the Detroit Red Wings today, there was only two remaining. The Ducks dance with the Senators with Anaheim having home ice advantage.

This should be a great series. I FULLY admit I didn't think Ottawa had it in them. I really didn't.... I thought they would have been gone ages ago and they just keep proving everyone wrong and this indeed could be this year.

Fortune hasn't been good to Canada in the Stanley Cup finals. The last two finals had Calgary and Edmonton which both lost in their game 7's respectively. They say the third time is a charm and perhaps Ottawa is going to break that. The big difference is Edmonton and Calgary play in the Western Conference and Ottawa in the East. The East has been winning their fair share of cups in recent years, so it would be very fitting to see the Senators bring it home!

I am a huge Leaf's fan and I've never cheered for Ottawa or Montreal EVER in my life but at the same time I'd love to see Lord Stanley back where she belongs. So count me on the bandwagon. Make fun! Tease! Tell me Im stupid for jumping ship and bashing the Senators! It is all well deserved... Still, what can you do, I am Canadian more than anything at heart!

Bring it home Senators... bring it home!

Ducks Edge Wings in OT, Go Up 3-2 in Series

The Anaheim Ducks are now one game away to face the Ottawa Senators for the Stanley Cup! The Ducks battled back against the Red Wings, down 1-0 for 59 full minutes. Detroit simply couldn't get the job done.

The Ducks scored with under a minute and Selanne scored the OT winner on a dead giveaway by Detroit Defenseman Andreas Lilja. Lilja snapped his stick completely in two after Selanne scored, which I am sure resembled the frustration the Red Wings shared.

Detroit dominated this game, outshooting the Ducks 34-18. Gigere was his brilliant self, and Anaheim seems destined to go all the way. Detroit really has dominated the past 3 games, but not much to show for it. Now they have to head back to California to play the Ducks at home.

Statistically speaking, when a series is tied 2-2, the winner of game 5 goes on to win the series 80% of the time.

I think a Ducks/Senators matchup for the finals would be a great one! Neither team has ever won a cup, so this would be pretty fitting. I personally cannot wait to see how this turns out.

Q&A With Cam Cameron

On the official Miami Dolphins website, Coach Cameron addressed some of the fans concerns about the draft, mini-camps and the team as a whole moving into this season.

I thought this was really well done and he answered some of those questions exceptionally well!

Here is the complete Q & A. Be warned, it is a little long :)

Dolphins Head Coach Cam Cameron contributes a regular column for MiamiDolphins.com.

In his second column below, Cameron discusses his first draft, mini-camps and his style of offense.

May 14, 2007
Q. What message do you have for the fans as this point? You've been the head coach here for several months and a lot of things have happened. What would you like to tell them?

A.I want them to know I understand. I understand and a lot of those fans will know exactly what I mean. But I understand. I understand the feeling the fans had in how it related to the draft. The fans who were upset need to know all that happened was well thought out by all of us.

I understand the concerns they might have. But it's a process. There is a lot of hard work being done. We need their support. We need it all season long. I want our fans to let our play on the field speak for itself and then start forming their own conclusions. But I understand what they're going through and I remain devoted to bringing them what they want most.

Q. How much work remains to be done in shaping of this roster?

A. Not a lot in how it relates to this year. There is a lot of development that needs to happen with the guys we already have, which is not uncommon. We've got to get these rookies ready to play. Go through our team, there is a whole group of second and third year guys - the Ronnie Brown's of this team - that can really grow. That's what we need to see.

Q. You recently had the entire team together for mini camp. What impressions remain most vivid?

A. Just the improvement we've made. Obviously we have a solid defense. That stood out. We have a consistent defense with some great leadership in Jason Taylor, Zach Thomas, Keith Traylor, Yeremiah Bell and Joey Porter. They are all real pros. Yet I think our offense finally on Saturday of mini camp, after getting handled pretty well on Friday, finally responded and went out and competed.

We have to get to the point where we are truly competing at a high level every day so it's not so one-sided. I told the offense we have to compete against a good defense like ours. Let's not just roll over here. I didn't see much improvement in the offense in the first mini camp, but I saw it in the second mini camp. We now have a legitimate competition at a lot of positions, and that's good to see.

Q. Let's talk about the draft. In retrospect, did it all unfold the way you had hoped?

A. I would say yes and the reason I say that is because on Day One we were able to address all of the things we wanted to address. We were focused on one or two guys in each round and every time it was our turn to pick, we didn't have to trade up to get our guy. We were able to hold our ground, which is a great tribute to Randy Mueller.

I mean our phone was ringing off the hook. There were opportunities to trade from the first pick through the second day to move up to get people. But we hung in there. Not only did we fill some crucial needs on the first day, but on the second day we were able to get the middle guard that we wanted, the punter that we wanted and so on. How it all fell into place I don't know, but it pretty much did.

Q. Was your first draft as a head coach in the NFL comparable at all to game day excitement and pressure?

A. There were some similarities as your pick got closer and closer and the phone started ringing and the excitement started building. People were focusing on us. I was sitting next to Randy watching it all unfold. We knew the guy that we wanted was Ted Ginn Jr., but at the same time there were other options we would have been happy with.

I thought it was neat that not one single time in the draft right before our pick did somebody come in and take the guy we wanted. You never heard the room gasp from disappointment. I'm sure there will be some times in the future when we'll lose the player we wanted, but it didn't happen this year. But watching it all unfold, seeing your guy out there, the pressure building as each pick goes by, and then actually getting the guy you wanted, it's a pretty intense feeling.

Q. What sold you on Ted Ginn Jr.

A. He's just a football player. He has tremendous speed and with that comes a rare ability to change the game. It is so vivid in my mind what an impact kick and punt returner can do to your team, especially if you're a good defense team. As we kept looking at guys, we looked at the team we have today with a sold defense, and we asked ourselves: How can we make the biggest impact on offense? Here's a guy who is an impact punt and kickoff returner and who is going to be a great receiver.

Whether it happens this year isn't a big concern, because he can help us in so many other ways. Then when you start talking about the financial investment you're going to make in a Top Ten pick, he better be the right kind of guy. I was sold on his family. I was sold on the kid. I spoke to Jim Tressel, his coach at Ohio State, and he didn't do anything to sell the kid. I thought it was great. We had other coaches sell their guy hard. Tressel didn't try to sell us on Ted Ginn because he knew he didn't have to. The tapes spoke for themselves.

Q. A lot of coaches say they want to go 80 yards in 18 plays, take up a lot of time and leave their defense on the sideline. Some coaches say they want to go 80 yards on one play. What's your mindset?

A. I'm somewhere in between. We want to score as many ways as possible. The long drives are good. But when you try that power possession thing and it doesn't work, it's not very good. We want to score and not turn the ball over. We will be aggressive. Where my philosophy really developed was watching the Jimmy Johnson teams in Dallas. Jimmy had that great defense, but they had an offense that was always trying to score, score, score. I loved to watch that Dallas offense and how proficient it was.

Q. Let's turn to quarterback John Beck. The common theme seems to be that people marvel over his accuracy. Is that what you saw and how much tape did you watch?

A. What I tried to do over the years when I evaluate quarterbacks is to first look at all their tape. I watched every game John played for two years. But once you do that, to really get to know the player, what you need to do is focus on how he did on the road in the fourth quarter or in close games. I isolated all of those games for John Beck. That's the closest correlation to what he's going to be doing in the NFL every week.

What did I learn about John Beck? You should all look at the tapes. It's amazing what he did. Go look at the Utah game. Go look at the Boston College game. There are a million guys who can play great at home or can be accurate when it doesn't really matter. But on the road in close games? That's what sold me on Phillip Rivers and that's what sold me on John Beck.

Q. How much are you looking forward to getting this team in pads and start really evaluating things?

A. I'm really looking forward to it. I told our staff we're not going to come to too many judgments now because we've all seen when the pads come on things can change drastically to the benefit of a guy and also to the detriment of a guy. We're not going to put the stamp of approval on any player until we see him in pads and we see him playing in some preseason games.

Lance Briggs to Skip Bears Minicamp

So Lance Briggs is making good on his promise, at least for now. Briggs said he isn't showing up for the Bears minicamp and technically since he isn't under contract he cannot be fined by the team. ESPN has claimed that Briggs has threatened to sit out the first 10 games of the season, play the last six to make his season eligible and then file for free agency again.

I am really surprised the Bears didn't trade Briggs to the Redskins when they had the chance. They could have swapped first rounders and moved all the way up to number 6, but instead elected to keep Briggs. Briggs had a potential deal in place with Washington and is seriously bitter over how Chicago slapped the franchise tag on him.

Now, Chicago has a tough decision to make. A long term deal with the team appears to be as unlikely as ever. Chicago's trade value for Briggs is WAY down now, they should have traded him when they had the chance. Still, that's not to say a deal won't get done with Washington or any other team for that matter. There are still a lot of deals to be made this offseason. Likely with Briggs on his way out (or he'll sit and what good is he to the Bears on the sidelines) and Trent Green having a somewhat similar situation in which he is no longer the QB there and takes on a 7 million salary cap figure. Peterson also dropped the ball here because now they may be forced to release Green and have him sign on with Miami regardless. Yep, its all about timing!

Take care and until next time!

Sabres Stay Alive!

The Buffalo Sabres stayed alive and forced a game 5 against the Ottawa Senators this evening.

Buffalo has just simply been outplayed this series but desperation kicked in, Buffalo scored 3 first period goals and held off the Senator's comeback for the 3-2 victory.

Now technically anything can happen, but Ottawa is obviously the clear favorite at this point. Even with their historical record of blowing the big games in the playoffs and never making it where they should, they couldn't possibly loose again to Buffalo, could they?

We will find out in a few more days... Buffalo is the WRONG team to give life to. They have so much offense and Ryan Miller is a great goalie, one of the best! Let's see what happens in game 5!

Nowitzki First European to be MVP

Dirk Nowitzki beat out the two-year MVP reign of his close friend and former teammate Steve Nash. Nash, who plays for the Phoenix Suns, being a class act all the way like he is, said he was so proud of his friend for his accomplishment!

"I think it's really well-deserved. Hopefully he gets a chance to enjoy it regardless of their playoff outcome, because he had a phenomenal year and he really deserves it."

Dirk was listed first on 83 of the 129 ballots, garnering a total of 1,138 points, while Nash finished second with 1,013 points and 44 first-place votes. Nash just missed out on an record held only by 3 other basketball greats: Larry Bird, Wilt Chamberlain and Bill Russell, which were the only players to get 3 basketball MVP trophy`s in a row.

Congratulations Dirk, this is well deserved indeed (although in my opinion Nash is equally as deserving).

Farve Upset That Packers Didn't get Moss

According to ESPN, Brett Farve in an interview at a charity golf course said he was very angered that we didn't get Randy Moss.

"It is disappointing," Favre said on Saturday. "We could have gotten him for less money than New England did. He wanted to play in Green Bay for the amount of money we would have paid him. It [was] well worth the risk."

Farve was rumored to demand a trade after the draft but later cooled down. Honestly, you can't really blame the guy. He is in his 17th year and he wants to win NOW. The Packers really aren't that far away either, but Farve knows his time is nearly over. Actually the Packers could be a surprise team this season, but I am more curious when Farve finally calls it quits, will Aaron Rodgers be their go-to guy? This guy will be a 4 year old veteran before he even plays a season.

Kinda strange that he has just been there and haven't had the chance to really prove anything. I am curious how he'll produce when or if he's ever given the chance.

Ricky Does it Again... Williams gets Caught in Drug Test

According to ESPN, Ricky Williams this past April failed yet another Drug test for Marijuana.

This is Ricky's 5th time failing for pot.

The doctor's recommend that Ricky should not be reinstated until at least September but knowing the hard-line new commissioner, Ricky may have to earn his way back in, and this year could be too soon.

With Pacman Jones serving a full year suspension (currently under appeal) and Henry being out one half a season, there is full reason to believe that William will not put on a uniform this season.

I myself am actually really surprised by this. I thought for sure he would be back and would be an asset to the team, but at this point he has to go, period! He is nothing but a distraction and failing again should automatically end his term with the team. He stated in his interview he wants to "Resurrect his career". Please... you need to get your act together and show dedication to your team before you deserve to even see a football field again. Fact is, if you want to play in this league you have to follow those rules, and those rules apply to everyone.

Ricky, you're out! Booker, show em why Cameron drafted you! I have a feeling the Ronnie Brown, Booker and the "Juggernaut" combo is going to be pretty good for years to come.

Blue Jays are Dealt Yet ANOTHER Blow, Loose Ace Halladay Until June

Yes you heard it right again the Blue Jays injury woes just continue.

So far they have

Chacin - 15 Day DL
Reed Johnson - 60 Day DL
Zaun - 15 Day DL
BJ Ryan - OUT for the Season
Zambrano - 15 Day DL
League - 15 Day DL

And now add Halladay and most likely Glaus, who looks like he pulled a muscle in his leg running to first base this season in Toronto's victory against the Devil Rays.

At least the only good news for the Jays, Burnett was awesome tonight, pitching nearly 7 innings, striking out 10 and allowing just 1 run (a solo shot) in the 1st inning.

If the Jays want to make ANY sort of season out of this they will need many games like this. It is still not determined who will take Doc's spot in the rotation.

Jays Closer BJ Ryan DONE for the Season

If the Toronto Blue Jays didn't already have enough on their plate, they just received even more troubled news. Closer BJ Ryan underwent Tommy John surgery in his left elbow and will be out for the remainder of the season.

According to TSN, Victor Zambrano will also go to the 15 day DL with Shawn Marcum taking his place in the starting rotation. Jamie Vermilyea was recalled from triple-A Syracuse and will pitch out of the bullpen.

I don't know if it is time to panic yet fellow Blue Jays fans, but we all should agree SOMETHING should be done. They have so many injuries and their record (not to mention loosing streak) is just getting worse and worse. If the ship isn't set back on course by the end of May, I am calling for John Gibbon's head! In the meantime, go out there and get a starter and some bullpen help. Those 5 or 6 games they lost at the beginning of the year due to not being able to close out a game is surely looking hurtful right now!

Round 3 of the NHL Playoffs About to Start!

So the next round of the NHL playoffs are just about underway. After my embarrassing predictions last time I don't even know if I should say em this time but hey you can't always get em ;)

Maybe this time Ill bat higher than .250

So here are my predictions for this round of the NHL playoffs!

Anaheim over Detroit
Buffalo over Ottawa

I think both series will be extremely close and I would LOVE to see A Buffalo/Anaheim finals. Both with dynamic play and very high flying offenses.

Let's see how the games pan out. I saw on the news today that one of the government officials who lives in Ottawa is betting a large quantity of Tim Horton's coffee if Ottawa wins against a large supply of home-style Buffalo Chicken wings. I thought it was funny, hopefully this is where all our tax dollars go! ;)

Until next time!

Brady Quinn vs John Beck Debate continues....

There is countless speculation if Miami made the right decision in passing on Brady Quinn in favor of Ted Ginn and most importantly their new QB John Beck.

I honestly feel Miami made the BEST decision possible for their team. And for the record I am quite happy. I hear everyone say Quinn is the best QB and so high up there on the draft boards.... but what makes John Beck not the right choice? What does Brady have as an edge that justifies saying Cameron and Mueller makes a mistake?

Here are my reasoning why BECK is the better QB and is a better fit with Miami.

1) Arm Strength - Beck can throw the deep ball. Better and more accurate than Quinn. This is a fact (watch the videos).

2) More accurate passer - Beck had almost 70% completion rate last season compared to Brady's shade over 60%. Cameron has already stated many times that he can make a good, accurate passer better. He cannot make a QB that isn't very accurate, more accurate. Straight from the horses mouth.

3) Some argue the competition is far weaker for Beck than it is for Quinn. While this may be true, remember Steve Young had the same competition (also went to BYU) and in fact, Beck's teammates also would fit into that same category. What I mean by that is, imagine what he'd do with a REAL THREAT at WR (Cough*Ginn*cough). I don't buy the competition bit. Tom Brady had "not much competition" in college either... more so because he only played a hand full of games. That sure turned out ok for the Patriots.

4) Beck can read a defense. Beck has problem he's a smart, mature QB who can run a team. Where does everyone get the guy is gonna be 30 when he starts? like are you all retarded? Yes the guy will be 26 in August.... he will be starting his FIRST NFL game at that age (count on it)! So he'll be 27 when he's a full time starter. Whats the point? If he plays for the Dolphins for a decade (that's 10 years for the math nuts) I would be MORE than happy with this pick.

5) FAR less of a risk and much less financial worries over picking a guy like Beck over Quinn (who might I add has the WORST/best agent ever. He's great but a guy you love to hate). If Quinn ends up being a bust like Joey Harrington then Cleveland just set themselves back many, many years....

6) Cameron gave both Brady Quinn AND John Beck the same exact test at their interview. The test was this. Draw and map out every play on the board for ND and BYU's offensive playbook respectively. Quinn struggled a little and managed to get majority completed. Beck passed this test with flying colors, drew up his complete plays and obviously made a HUGE impression on Cameron. Notice Cameron likes SMART QB's who can learn the playbooks right away.

7) Terry Shea (Miami's QB coach) was the one who worked with Brady Quinn during his entire combine. So let's face facts here.... Miami knew Brady Quinn better than ANY other team.

8) If Quinn is such a God as many of you say he is, why did 20 other teams pass on him??? Yes I have heard the arguments that many of those teams don't need a QB. I HIGHLY disagree. Are you telling me if JaMarcus Russell was there and not Brady Quinn (let's assume Quinn went to the Raiders for fun).... Do you think the Lions, Browns, Washington, Vikings, Dolphins, Buffalo, St. Louis, the Jets, Packers and Jacksonville would have taken him? How far do you think Russell would have lasted? ANY of these teams could use a FRANCHISE QB especially one who is the apparent heir to the throne of King Arthur (Our hero, Quinn). Yes I know Marc Bulger(for example) is the starter with the Rams or the Packers used a first rounder on Aaron Rodgers (hmmm... looks familiar?) but lets face it, Bulger isn't getting any younger and no one knows what Rodgers really has to offer.... if you had the "BEST QB EVA" you would take him, wouldn't you?

Not to mention Beck looks amazing like Steve Young or Marc Bulger... either of which I would take on my team ANY DAY... Brady Quinn might end up being a great QB. I have nothing bad to say. Fact is, it isn't fair (and its simply ignorance by the ESPN propaganda) to say Beck is not the QB Brady is or ever will be because that simply isn't true. No one knows for sure how this is going to turn out but Ill trust the guy on my bench who spent his ENTIRE LIFE evaluating QB's instead of some "so called experts" on forums or on ESPN.

Again, I CHALLENGE you to give me ONE reason why Brady Quinn is better. A solid, quality reason (which no one has given me yet)... I just listed 8, you can give me 1.

Like it or not, John Beck is the future of the Miami Dolphins. I know I am not alone in this but I'd love feedback on why one QB is better than the other.

Rocket Roger Signs Mega-deal With Yankees

The Rocket is back in town, but not with the hometown Astro's. According to ESPN, Roger Clemens signed a $28 million, one-year contract that will start when he is added to the major league roster for his first start. Clemens will earn about $18.5 million under the deal, and he isn't expected to start for at least another 3 or 4 weeks.

Even though this will literally cost the Yankee's a fortune, with the mess of injuries they have and their current record and standings in the AL East, I am sure if you asked them if they HAD to make this move they'd agree.

This reunites Clemens with his former club and good friend Andy Pettitte.

Clemen's also stated that he's here to win a championship and "anything less would be considered a failure".

Another Brilliant Goaltending Performance

Only one day after Luongo and Gigere's masterpiece on ice, the Buffalo Sabres and NY Rangers had a similar game of their own.

Goaltenders Ryan Miller and Henrik Lundqvist were spectacular but as we all know only one team can win. Miller got the best of Lundqvist and the Sabre's prevailed to take a 3-2 lead over the pesky Rangers.

I still wouldn't count the Rangers out yet! With the fight they have in them, they could easily pull off a win in game 6 and force a decisive game 7 for the right to move on. That being said, if Ryan Miller plays his next game like he did tonight, the Rangers don't have a chance!

Roberto was Dazzling, Canucks Still Fall

Even with the effort Roberto Luongo put forth this evening, it just wasn't enough. The Ducks were playing great but Luongo was absolutely stunning. It was one of the best goaltending performance I have ever seen and it is a shame that Vancouver lost such a heartbreaker.

The final score was 2-1 in double overtime, and if it wasn't for Roberto the game wouldn't have even been close. Luongo ended the night with 56 shots.

One more thing of note, Luongo had equipment trouble at the beginning of overtime and backup Saborin making a few very nice saves to keep Vancouver in the series. At the end, the great goaltending jobs just weren't enough. Full credit to the Ducks and their great play! They look to be going all the way, taking out Vancouver in 5.

Keyshawn to Land With the Giants?

Keyshawns' days with the Carolina Panthers are officially over (Likely due to the Panthers spending their second round pick on Dwayne Jarrett. Last season, the Giants tried to sign Keyshawn but he opted to take more money to go to Carolina.

Now that Keyshawn is a free agent, the Giants have again expressed some desire. Johnson's agent has already said his client has offers on the table and WILL PLAY this season. Let's see if the Giant's courtship for Keyshawn lasts another year.

Even With 8 Players on the DL - Jays Still Find a Way to Win!

The Blue Jay's finished their first month of the 2007 season with a winning record, despite having 8 regulars headed towards the DL.

Most of this is due to Roy Halladay who was dominant today YET AGAIN! He threw his second complete game as the Jays beat up the Rangers 6-1 Monday.

Starting pitcher Chacin is the latest victim to head towards the DL, joining Reed Johnson, closer BJ Ryan, and catcher Greg Zaun among others.

Still, given the Jay's schedule (having played the Tigers twice, Red Sox twice and Yankees) they had a pretty successful run. Can this streak continue with so many players missing time off?? The other players simply have to step up. There was no immediate replacement for Chacin mentioned as of today but Dustin McGowan (former 1st round pick) who is lightning it up in AAA ball is likely to get the call.

Why Cam Cameron and the Dolphins are Genius (shssss... it's a disguise)

Why is there such debate on if Brady Quinn is the better Quarterback over John Beck? Many Miami fans ripped Cameron and Mueller apart yesterday when they picked Ted Ginn (and later John Beck) over Brady Quinn. Since when are we experts?

Does everyone forget so quickly as to him getting Drew Brees and turning him into a pro-bowl QB?? A guy who just brought a then-horrible San Diego and New Orleans Saints teams respectively, into the playoffs?

How about trading Eli Manning to the Giants for Philip Rivers AND a 1st year pick. Yes I know this is ultimately the GM's (Smith's) decision but have no doubt when it came to QB's who they asked. Philip Rivers is a fantastic QB and 10 x the QB Eli Manning is (at least as of today)... If Cameron thought then, that Eli Manning was the better QB, this trade doesn't happen.

Cam Cameron knows QB's. If he says Beck is the best QB that was there, I have no reason not to believe him 100%!

As for Mueller, he drafted people like Joey Galloway and Donte Stallworth.... Ted Ginn is better than both of these players and that is a pretty exciting thought! Not to mention he was the mastermind in drafting Deuce (when they had Ricky Williams) and then proceeded to ship Ricky off to Miami for TWO first round draft picks.

Really... there is nothing for us to be upset or worried about!

Until next time,

Randy Moss Traded to the New England Patriots

The biggest deal to go down on draft day was Randy Moss going to the NE Patriots for their 4th round selection in this year's draft.

I know Randy has all the tools and talent in the world... but do you feel NE was really reaching for this guy?? New England went out this offseason, signed 3 (count em THREE) Wide Receivers to pretty big pay cheques and in addition traded their 2nd round pick to the Dolphins for Wes Welker (and then signed him to an extention).

I don't understand the logic in this, even with Moss's talent. Not to mention his character leaves much to be desired. What will happen when Tom Brady spreads out the field (like he always does) and Moss doesn't get the ball enough? Is this going to be a distraction?? I just don't really understand this, especially after signing Donte Stallworth, Wes Welker and Kelley Washington. They had other places they could have looked to upgrade but got yet ANOTHER WR instead.

All the same, the Patriots has one of the better GM's in the league and I guess you can trust they know what they are doing. Given it was also only a 4th rounder - arguably a steal for a player of Moss's caliber. Still, I can't help but not like the pick. I think a team like Green Bay would have benefited much more than NE and that is for both parties (NE AND Moss).

Time will tell...

Miami Dolphins Rumors No More! These Fans are NOT Pleased.... Let Me Explain Why They Should be THRILLED!

Unless you missed the draft today, the Miami Dolphins bypassed Brady Quinn at the number 9 spot in favor of Ted Ginn Jr. Obviously Miami fans went into a frenzy and most pledged to never watch another Miami game again until Cameron's head is held high above Pro Players Stadium.

Miami Dolphins rumors has had them drafting Quinn for at least two months... and the initial shock was a lot to take. The problem is, the draft is a full two days long, and you have to wait and see what else Miami does. Was I just as pissed as everyone else when it happened? Sure the initial response was definitely not good, I was just as completely shocked as everyone else was.... then I said, "Hmmm, I will wait and see what Quarterback they will draft or what the plan is before I ask for Cameron's head". Sure enough, the second round came and my prayers were answered.

Meanwhile, as all this happens, Brady Quinn is on an Aaron Rodgers like drop off the charts and falls all the way to Cleveland in the 22 spot (Originally was the Dallas pick, Cleveland gave its #1 2008 pick and a 2nd rounder this year).

With Miami's number 40th pick, they select John Beck to be the new face of the franchise. I truthfully could not be happier. Look at it this way. Miami spent almost every minute on the clock with their first round pick, trying to think of a reason to take Brady Quinn, abandon their months of planning and scouting and NOT take Beck (because after all, you couldn't take two QBs with the first two picks). It is also obvious, 21 other teams (including Dallas) decided that Quinn was not worth their pick and there was plenty of chances both before and after the Dolphins passed.

Yes it was a definite shocker, but lets take a look at John Beck's numbers (A projected late first rounder/early second rounder). Beck had almost 4000 yards passing last season in college, with 32 TDs and 8 Int's. In addition to this he throws a football 61 mph, good for second fastest at the combine. This are great numbers! He's a good character guy, can read a defense perfectly and is a great fit for Cameron's offensive style. Oh and I forgot to mention he also completed 70% of their passes with a passer rating of a DAZZLING 169! That is just incredible numbers for a guy in college.

A few people argue he was at a lesser known school that didn't have much competition. This is true, but Steve Young turned out to be pretty good. His age is a factor given he's 25 (and will be 26 before the season starts) but if I could have a great QB for the next 7-10 years Ill take that even if he is a little older.

Yes, grabbing Beck and passing on Quinn could be the best thing the Dolphins ever did. I still have no doubt Quinn will be a star, he is a great QB (and that is why Miami used up all its minutes). Still, when it comes down to if I'd take a chance on a first rounder like Quinn or get a Devin Hester like player with amazing speed and a Steve Young type player in John Beck Ill take it no questions asked.

Breathe Miami, day one is over!

What in the World?? The Dolphins Pass on Brady Quinn?

Ok guys....

After my rage has simmered down, because believe me I am just as shocked as all of you... I know what happened. Let me explain! It is all good...

We all know, Ted Ginn is a speedster. We needed a great Wide Receiver. I am somewhat happy, at least they picked someone worthwhile.

BUT! The big question is this.... why did they pass on Brady Quinn? Well, maybe Cameron and Mueller know something that everyone else does not. My other theory is they have someone like Beck/Stanton/Edwards higher on their board. They could feel that one of these QB's are a star more so than Quinn and using a 1st and 2nd rounder on QB's would be a bad move. Wouldn't you agree? If you wanted Beck and this is the GUY that you really want, would you still draft Brady Quinn?

This is the ONLY thing I can think of that makes any sense. They see something in someone in the 2nd round like this and didn't want to waste the pick.

One thing is for sure.... Cameron and Mueller will either look like idiots or absolute genius. They know talent, and Ginn is as fast as anyone I've ever seen. Before we completely loose it, let's see who else they draft.

NFL Draft Less than 24 Hours Away!

The Draft is coming and the speculation and hype will soon come to an end!

Al Davis holds the #1 overall pick for the first time, and his decisions will make a ripple effect throughout the rest of the league depending on what he decides to do.

It is interesting... because everyone is expecting the Raiders to take Russell with their first pick. Still, what stops the Raiders from taking CJ (who is believed to be the best player in the draft) and drafting someone like John Beck with their second overall pick. They still would have their QB of the future and also get the best player available.

As one final call, this is the scenario I see. Al Davis is just too.... Al Davis like to take Russell with everyone banking on it. He wants to shake things up and I think it's smart! Check back here tomorrow, as I update everyone with the draft as it progresses! All this starts at 12:00 pm tomorrow, EST!

New Orleans sign Franchise Player to MEGA-Bucks

In a somewhat surprising move today, Adam Schefter on the NFL network says the New Orleans Saints reached an agreement with free-agent defensive end Charles Grant on a seven-year contract worth up to $63 million, including $20 million of guaranteed money.

Grant will make $24 million over the first three years of the deal and $35 million over the first five.

Grant was initially upset that he was slapped with the franchise tag, but his faith in second-year coach Sean Payton as well as the new build foundation of the team motivated him to continue working on an extension.

Grant did take a visit to the Bucs but no deal was ever made.

Dante Hall Heading to the Rams

This is about the time the trade rumors in the NFL start really heating up! Just before draft day is where it all starts and this year is no different.

The Kansas City Chiefs just traded Special teams expert Dante Hall to the St. Louis Ram's for this years 5th round draft choice. In addition, the teams will swap 3rd rounder selections (with the Chiefs moving up two spots and vice versa).

This is likely a good deal for both parties. Rumors were that Dante was on his way out of town and KC desperately need some more draft picks. With this trade, they still only have 7. Look for them to get another from Miami when Trent Green finally is traded, as the 2007 NFL trade talks continue...

Second Round of Playoffs Begins Wednesday

The second round of the NHL playoffs kicks underway starting tomorrow evening.

Here is a preview of some of the first round matchups!

NY Rangers @ Buffalo Sabres
Vancouver Canucks @ Anaheim Ducks
Ottawa Senators @ New Jersey Devils
San Jose @ Detroit

Last time I went 5 for 8 (Even though it was closer to 6 of 8 given I really didn't have much confidence in the young Penguins, which I stated on my post. Still like this time I REFUSE to pick the Senators even if I think they might win it out) :)

So here's my picks for this round. They are getting harder!

Buffalo over NY
Vancouver over Anaheim
San Jose over Detroit
New Jersey over the Sens (OK no more excuses, I firmly believe the Devils will take this series)

The way the Rangers are playing, if there was to be an "upset" I figure this would be it. Still, Buffalo is just too good not to pick.

Let's see how this pans out! Right now, Im routing for the Vancouver Canucks all the way!!! Bring Lord Stanley home guys!!!

Until next time,

It Was a 4-1 Score, but It Was a 2-1 Game!

The Vancouver Canucks just advanced into the next round of the playoffs.

Roberto was his usual, brilliant self and with the help of the crossbar, Vancouver gets to meet the Anaheim Ducks!

Although the score was 4-1, it was a 2-1 game and what a game it was. Both the final 2 goals were scored on an empty net, so those barely count. Vancouver was all over them after the first period, I had no doubt they were advancing and this was their night. Give credit to Marty Turco and the Dallas Stars. What a hell of a game they put out, and honestly if anyone else was in net, it wouldn't even have been close!

Trevor Linden scored the game winner and the way they played, the Ducks should be worried. Vancouver has such a great defense, and Roberto is literally in FIRE! Honestly, it is a shame one of these teams has to go home. They BOTH deserve it, and BOTH played one great hockey game, and an even better series! This in my opinion was the best opening round series of the bunch!

Roberto Vs Turco. Give Roberto this one!

NHL League Sends Message to Flames

The Calgary Flames, Jim Playfair and Goaltender Jamie McLennan ALL received punishment for yesterday`s actions against the Detroit Red Wings.

McLennan has also been suspended five games, while coach Jim Playfair has been fined $25,000 and the organization has been fined $100,000. This was as a result of the play and obvious frustration at the end of Detroit`s 5-1 win yesterday evening.

McLennan's slash was part of an undisciplined display from Calgary that included a Daymond Langkow uppercut to the face of Brett Lebda following a Lebda hip-check, along with a Jarome Iginla butt-end, leading to a late game crosscheck on Red Wings veteran Mathieu Schneider.

The League had the following to say about the situation.

'In our pre-playoff conference calls with the coaches and general managers of the respective organizations, we addressed a number of topics - and one of them was actions late in the game when the score was out of hand,' said Colin Campbell, NHL Senior Executive Vice president and Director of Hockey Operations. 'The coach and the organization must be held accountable for the players' actions.'

Calgary and Detroit play game six tonight in Calgary.

Dallas Forces Game 7 Back In Canada

Marty Turco and the Dallas stars avoided elimination once more, beating Vancouver 2-0 to force a 7th and deciding game.

Turco should silence his critics with back to back shutouts against a high powered Vancouver offense (although you wouldn't know it by this series).

The road teams had won 4 straight going into this game, and after an overtime victory in their last matchup, Dallas needed to break the trend. They did in dynamic fashion and Turco has now gone more than two games without allowing a goal.

Both teams now head back to Canada to see who advances to round two! I will keep you posted, lets go Canucks!

Raiders Shopping Multiple WR's?

According to Adam Schefter on the NFL network, the Oakland Raiders are shopping both Porter AND Moss, two of their best WR's.

This is very interesting, given the Raiders have the number 1 overall pick in the draft.

I have also heard the Raiders are in talks with the Detroit Lions for QB Josh McCown.

Does this mean the Raiders are not completely sold on JaMarcus Russell or is this some kind of smokescreen and they have full intentions of making him their franchise QB.

The difference with the Raiders (compared to a team like the Browns) is Lane Kiffin is a first year coach and a very young one at that. He has time to groom a QB, and wont be on the hot seat for a couple more seasons. Crennel I could understand not taking a QB because he probably only has one year left.

So the only remaining option I can think of, is the Raiders are VERY high on Calvin Johnson and perhaps this is Al Davis's man all along. We all know how he likes to rebel, and most mock drafts have Oakland taking Russell. Thing is, if they aren't sold on him, why not take the best player available in the draft which is arguably Calvin Johnson and draft a QB with their second pick. By that time they could get either Drew Stanton or Trent Edwards to run the show.

What do you guys think about this situation? Im very curious to see this year's draft, it could be one of the most exciting drafts in recent memory.

Until next time,

Ottawa Eliminates Pittsburgh

The Ottawa Senators JUST eliminated Sidney Crosby and the Pittsburgh Penguins. Final score was 3-0.

After having the series tied 1-1 leaving Ottawa, the Senators took 2 on the road, only to return home to eliminate the feisty Penguins.

Pittsburgh is the second team to be eliminated from the NHL postseason, with the Rangers eliminating the Atlanta Thrashers yesterday evening.

Report: Calvin Johnson Admits to Smoking Marijuana

According to ESPN, Calvin Johnson as well as a few other projected top ten picks (Gaines Adams and Okoye) have admitted to smoking pot when they were 16.

Seriously, is this even news?!? Are we grasping at straws here to find a headliner on ESPN?

I won't even get into the whole debate on whether pot is "good" or "the devils plant", most people who know me, knows my view on it... my biggest question is, who cares?? The fact that they admitted it should be plenty. This should be a GREAT thing for GM's, at least they know their future star is honest and don't really care what the critic's think about the situation.

I totally understand that smoking pot is totally against the NFL and their rules, and I respect that. For that reason alone, pro-football players should think and not partake, given the millions of dollars they are about to make. In this case, they don't really have a choice. You must respect the rules of the league, and if you don't, you get suspended. But seriously, do you think this would be a good reason for CJ NOT to be drafted in the top 5??

Honestly, I think since the NFL bans pot, they should ban alcohol too. I realize the argument is pot is illegal and alcohol isn't, but that doesn't mean it is right. It just means America hasn't found a way to market, tax, and most importantly gain money (and benefit) for such a thing being legal. And until that happens it probably won't be. Still, that being said, I think this is really blown out of proportion. It makes me laugh when I read the comments on ESPN and I see stuff like "If you smoke pot, you are a looser who will grow up to be a 35 year old manager at Burger King, with 7 ex-wives and 16 homeless children who you cannot support or feed".

Seriously, who let these monkeys out of their cages? :)

I'd love to hear other people's opinions on this, no matter what side of the fence you're on! Facts about marijuana need to be identified so people know EXACTLY what it is about. Yes, if you want to go into this league, you have to respect their rules, but don't punish a guy for being honest about something that happened over 5 years ago.

Thrashers Flying - Right OUT of the Post Season

After winning their division, the Atlanta Thrashers just got swept by the NY Rangers.

No sooner than half a day after I posted this did the Thrashers get eliminated by the Rangers.

Honestly, the way the Rangers are playing, it didn't take a psychic to see that Atlanta was on their way out.

The Rangers will now look forward to who they will be facing in the next round. Until then, they have a break, and will take a "Wait and see" approach.

The way the Rangers are playing as of late, they probably don't care WHO they play.

Until next time,

Buehrle hurls no-hitter to lead ChiSox over Rangers

Mark Buehrle became the first White Sox pitcher in over a decade to throw a complete game, no hitter. The last person to do this was Wilson Alvarez when he threw one at Baltimore on Aug. 11, 1991.

Buehrle, who becomes an UFA at the end of the year was almost perfect. He allowed one walk over his 9 innings and ended up picking off the runner at first before anything could come of it.

This was an absolutely incredible performance, and if he keeps pitching like he did today, the ChiSox might indeed find themselves in the post season once more.

Great job, you have to tip your hat to a player who can pitch such a gem.

2007 NFL Draft Predictions - 21 Through 32

Last time I wrote about my 2007 nfl draft predictions (11 through 20) in this years up and coming draft! With less than just a quick 10 days away, I am posting the end of round 1 projections.

Without further a due, here are my picks for 21-32.

21. Denver Broncos Selects Lawrence Timmons, Florida State

Why?: With the departure of Al Wilson, the Bronco's want a 1st round talent to replace him. Timmons give them this option and would be a great fit at middle LB for Denver.

22. Dallas Cowboys Selects Dwayne Jarrett, Southern California

Why?: With a new head coach and a fast aging group of WR, getting Jarrett (one of the better WR in the draft) makes the most sense for the Cowboys. No one really knows if T.O's off-field issues and his "cancerous" locker-room situation will hurt this team. It's best to be prepared, and Jarrett was a star in college and will hopefully do the same in the NFL. Remember... everyone thought Jerry Rice was a bit slow when he was first drafted too and we all know the ending of that chapter.

23. Kansas City Chiefs Selects Dwayne Bowe, Louisanna state

Why?: There is no surprise here given the mediocre talent the Chiefs has at the WR corp. They will have a new starting QB this year (whether its Huard or Brodie) and they need a guy who can catch and run with the ball. Bowe is a great player and should fit well with Herm Edward's Chiefs.

24. New England Patriots Selects Revis Darrelle, Pittsburgh

Why?: With Asante Samuel requesting a trade, the Patriots should address their CB situation here. It will be a hard decision between Revis, Houston or Ross but I feel Revis would fit more with the Patriots. Either way, I'd expect them to take a CB.

25. NY Jets Selects Chris Houston, Arkansas

Why?: Yep, second CB in a row off the board. The Jets need some Corners to help avoid getting burned by the deep ball. Houston is a quality starter who should be a top notch corner in the league. His college stats could be a bit of a worry to make him a 1st rounder (He has had 0 int and 0 FF in college) but I think he'll be a great player in the league none the less.

26. Philadelphia Eagles Selects Brandon Meriweather, Miami

Why?: The Eagles need a solid S, and although they already increased their D with Takeo Spikes I feel they'll still address it here. They have a pretty solid offense, and they may be tempted to take a WR here but with such a deep core in that area they could use their second pick on a WR instead.

27. New Orleans Saints Selects Aaron Ross, Texas

Why?: The Saints would be THRILLED to land a CB of Ross's caliber. They desperately need secondary help and if Ross is gone before now look for them to take someone like Houston, Revis, or the top secondary help available.

28. New England Patriots Selects Joe Staley, Central Michigan

Why?: The Patriots have two first round picks due to their trade sending Branch to the Seahawks. Look for them to address their Oline with some youth. Staley is one of the better OT in the draft (at least top 3) so look for them to nap him here. They also could be tempted in taking the best Center in the league, Ryan Kalil.

29. Baltimore Ravens Selects Anthony Spencer, Purdue

Why?: The Ravens just lost Adalius Thomas to the Patriots via Free Agency, and they need a guy who can rush or stay back (like Thomas can). This makes sense for a team who relies on Defense as their bread-and-butter and their offense is pretty well in tact with Air McNair running the show.

30. San Diego Chargers Selects Steve Smith, Southern California

Why?: The Chargers need a solid, deep threat and although Smith is a little small (just under 6 feet), he is quick and would be a deep threat Philip Rivers would love to see added. This guy is going to be a star and has catapulted himself to be a late first rounder (or early second rounder)

31. Chicago Bears Selects Justin Harrell, Tennesse

Why?: Harrell is projected as a 1st round selection and he would fit the Bears D perfectly. He can play both 3-4 and 4-3, is very versatile and would fit Lovie Smith's system very well.

32. Indianapolis Colts Selects Michael Griffin, Texas

Why?: The Colts could go a number of ways. They need to get a RB to replace Rhodes but they used their first round pick last year on Addai. Griffin is simply the best player left on the board at this time, but I wouldn't be surprised to see the Colts grab a Offensive Tackle like Staley if he's available.

This pretty much wraps up my first round projections. In less than 10 days we will see which potential up and coming stars goes where. I am really looking forward to draft day, this might be one of the better drafts in recent years with plenty of talent.

Until next time,

Lions/Bucs Draft Trade NOT Official

All day yesterday, there was a buzz online that the Lions traded their #2 draft pick to the Bucs for their #4 pick.

This likely could STILL happen but I figure it wouldn't until at least draft day (to see who the Raiders select with their top pick). The Bucs REALLY want to grab Calvin Johnson, and if he is available look for this trade to happen then.

As of right now, this is NOT official. No trade has formally happened. I was just watching Adam Schefter on the NFL network and by no means has this trade happened, at least not YET!

As I do, Schefter things this deal will go down if CJ is available. This is the guy Gruden wants, and is talked about as the best overall player in this years draft.

Rangers Trash Thrashers

The NY rangers are 1 game away to moving along in the post season and by the looks of the way Atlanta is playing this will be sooner than later.

Atlanta simply looks outmatched. Which is odd given the star-studded cast on Atlanta's roster. The Rangers just DESTROYED them last night with a 7-0 final.

It appears Atlanta will be the first team eliminated from the NHL Post-season. Let's see who the Rangers will play (talk about counting chickens before they hatch) :)

Until next time,

Brady Quinn vs JaMarcus Russell

There has been a HUGE debate on the forums as to WHO is the top QB in this years draft.

Brady Quinn or JaMarcus Russell

A lot of people Quinn will be a bust before he even takes a snap, while Russell gets all the praise for his huge game potential, cannon of an arm and is also a very accurate passer.

Everyone things Brady Quinn cannot win the big game and is going to be another Joey Harrington.

Well... like usual, I have to completely disagree.

In my opinion, Brady Quinn is MORE NFL ready than what JaMarcus Russell is.

Quinn played for Charlie Weis at ND and played in a very advanced NFL style offense. He is also very smart and didn't have a ton of talent around him. I strongly feel he will succeed in the NFL even though many people will likely disagree. I remember a few years ago, that Peyton Manning "could never win the big game" and "don't have the know-how to succeed in the NFL". Sounds pretty familiar.

There is no denying the physical tools that Russell has... but whos to say he won't be the next Culpepper or Leftwich? Both of these guys are often injured and their careers put in jeopardy, despite being very young. I've watched the video's of Russell and his passes look INCREDIBLE! Really dead-on.

The other options, whos to say BOTH of these QB's won't be stars in the NFL. I am always a big believer of innocent till guilty.... and these two gentleman hasn't even taken a professional (NFL) snap and there is already a big controversy.

I'm just going to go ahead and say BOTH of these guys succeed and both become NFL stars for whoever they end up with. The talent is there, the know-how is there and as long as the coaching is there at the next level, these kids will be fine!

I'd love to hear your opinions on Quinn and Russell... who you think will go where and why! Just as a stab in the dark (or from my Mock drafts) :) I'll say Quinn goes to the Browns and Russell drops to 6th (and the Dolphins trade up and snag him).

2007 NFL Draft Predictions - 11 through 20

Last time I wrote about my 2007 nfl draft predictions (top 10) in this years up and coming draft! With less than 2 weeks away, it is very exciting to see who the next big stars will be in the NFL and who will end up where. All the speculation and hype can now be finished!

Without further a due, here are my picks for 11-20.

11. San Francisco 49ers Selects Alan Branch, Michigan

Why?: Branch is a HUGE tackle that will fit Mike Nolan's 3-4 scheme perfectly. He can be used as a rookie and be there for years to come. Everyone needs to stop the run, why not have this guy who would be the highest ranking left on the board at this time.

12. Buffalo Bills Selects Patrick Willis, Mississippi

Why?: The Bills just lost London-Fletcher, and Willis is the best middle LB in the draft. This guy is also a tackling machine! I figure the Bills have too many needs to not choose this guy.

13. St. Louis Rams Selects Adam Carriker, Nebraska

Why?: St. Louis needs help on Defense and a pass rusher is just what they need. It maybe temping to take someone like Leon Hall here, since their secondary problems are definitely still there. However, I think there are better CB's they could potentially take in the later rounds so I like Carriker here.

14. Carolina Panthers Selects Greg Olsen, Miami

Why?: Will give Carolina the best TE in the draft and take some pressure off Keyshawn and Steve Smith. He could end up being one of the better TE's in the league. The Panthers also could go for a LB here but I think the talent of Olsen is more than enough to take him here (especially given there is really only 2 high profile TE's in the draft).

15. Pittsburgh Steelers Selects Ted Ginn JR, Ohio State

Why?: Ginn is a speed wagon and would bring a lot of energy to the special teams. He would also make a great 2nd or 3rd WR. Pittsburgh is set at Running Back with Willie Parker, but still need a deep threat since Burress and Randle El has departed.

16. Green Bay Packers Selects Marshawn Lynch, California

Why?: Green Bay lost long time RB Green to the Houston Texans and it is time to draft a solid RB to fill the hole. Lynch is the 2nd best RB in the draft and although someone like Nelson would be interesting, I think RB or WR would be a far more pressing need. They also could decide to take someone like Dwayne Bowe or Robert Meachem.

17. Jacksonville Jaguars Selects Reggie Nelson, Florida

Why?: Deon Grant is gone and Safety is a very pressing need for the Jags. They need a starter in which Nelson should be able to give them for many years to come. They have taken RBs and WR's in the past few drafts using their higher picks, I think this year it will be time to address the defense.

18. Cincinati Bengals Selects Leon Hall, Michigan

Why?: A lot of draft boards have Leon Hall closer to the top 10 mark, however I feel he slips due to other defensive players going first. It is hard to judge if someone is going to be a great cover in the NFL, so most teams are a bit sceptical to spend a first round pick here. I think Hall is a good choice for the Bengals who are in deep need for a quality CB, and Hall appears to have the most talent out of the group.

19. Tennesse Titans Selects Robert Meachem, Tennesse

Why?: Tennesse just spent their 1st rounder last year on Vince Young so they now need someone to catch the ball he throws. Meachem is one of the best quality WRs in the draft and will make the Titans a better team. A home boy like Meachem is just what they need.

20. N.Y Giants Selects Paul Poslusnzy, Penn State

Why?: The Giants have a glaring need for a LB, especially given LaVar Arrington was a bust last season. This will solidify their LB position for many years to come.

Tomorrow, Ill post my remaining 2007 NFL draft predictions, the end of round one(21-32)! In two weeks, we'll see if they come true! :)

Until next time,

Battered Blue Jays

The Blue Jays are hurtin and bad.

Today, Toronto announced that both closer BJ Ryan and 3rd baseman Troy Glaus will be on the DL. Ryan is expected to miss four to six weeks.

This is a huge blow for a team who already lost Reed Johnson. Ryan's sprained elbow ligament is similar to the one A.J Burnett and Gustavo Chacin suffered last season.

For now, the Jays will move Jason Frasor to the closers role, Adam Lind is called up to replace Reed Johnson (and looked impressive in his first game yesterday), as well as McDonald and Smith sharing duties at 3rd.

Injuries are always apart of it. Right now the Red Sox look like the toughest in the division (mainly due to these injuries to both the Yankees and Blue Jays). It'll be interesting to see how this series with Boston goes tomorrow.

Virgina Tech Massacare SHOCKS the United States

I wish I had better news to report today, but this is just shocking and terrible to say the least!

From ABC.com... Virginia Tech officials say as many as 29 people are dead after a gunman opened fire on campus. This is viewed as one of the most horrific school shootings in U.S History.

I want to pass along my deepest sympathy and condolences to all the people of the community and to all the families who may have lost their loved ones in this tragic event. This is truly a sad and horrible day for American history, one that I wish we could all avoid.

New York Yankees Sports Information - Pavano and Mussina Join Wang on DL

Here is some New York Yankees Sports Information that will make people in the Big Apple cringe.

If it wasn't enough that Chien-Ming Wang started this season on the DL, the New York Yankees also lost two more starters due to injury. New York's pitching staff is severely depleted, and having lost 3 starters now is surely not going to make things any easier.

The Yankees need to invest in some young, strong pitching studs like Philip Hughes. Why the Yankees are still going with the "Carl Pavano crash test dummy" experiment is seriously beyond me! This guy has been injured every single year after signing mega-bucks to become a Yankee and has absolutely nothing to show for it. It is time to move on.

The Yankee trade rumor mill will surely be flaring for starting pitching help at this rate... I believe it is just a matter of time.

My Top Ten - 2007 NFL Draft Predictions

Hi everyone,

With the NFL draft just a very quick 1 week and 5 days away I wanted to post my 2007 nfl draft predictions for this year.

Tomorrow Ill post who I think will go 11-20 and then 21-32.

Here we go!

1. Oakland Raiders Select Calvin Johnson, Georgia Tech

Why?: There are many reasons why I feel this would happen, mostly because apparently the Raiders are HUGE on this guy (and why wouldn't they be)? Johnson is the best WR prospect that has come out in the last decade. He has all the tools and will no doubt be a huge star in the NFL. The Raiders had Johnson ranked a 10 BEFORE they met with him. From what I hear, he only made an even better impression. Look for the Raiders to snag Drew Stanton with their no 33 pick overall (2nd rounder).

2. Detroit Lions Select Joe Thomas, Wisconsin

Why?: Detroit's main problem last year wasn't their QB. In fact, Jon Kitna even played pretty decent for the Lions given what he had to work with. The issue in Detroit is they cannot protect the Quarterback. There's a chance they could take a QB or Defensive phenom like Gaines Adams here, especially after signing some offensive linemen in the offseason but I think Thomas is just too good to pass up.

3. Cleveland Browns Select Brady Quinn, ND

Why?: YIKES! You all must be shocked! The Browns will take Quinn over RUSSELL? Have you lost your mind?? No, not really. The reason why I think the Browns would take Quinn over Russell is because Romeo Crennel and Charlie Weis are close. Quinn played for Weis in ND and was his guy. Now he could be Crennel's guy. Brady Quinn also played in a "NFL style" offense in college, so you can argue he is more ready for the NFL than Russell is. In addition to all this, Brady Quinn has been a Browns fan all his life growning up and management wants them to take a home-school QB that the franchise can have for the next 10 years.

4. Tampa Bay Buccaneers Select Gaines Adams, Clemson

Why?: At 6-5, and 260 he is big defensive end that would be the eventual replacement for Simeon Rice and the Tampa Bay defense needs an some of youth. Adams should be a star and would only help the Bucs.

5. Arizona Cardnials Select Jamaal Anderson, Arkansas

Why?: Arguably the second best DE in the draft, the Cards really have not much to work with on Defense. Now that their QB is settled with Leinhart and they have 2 of the better WR duo you could ask for, it's time to address the defense. They may be tempted to take Levi Brown as their franchise LT, or trade back and still get him if they think that's their guy.

6. Washington Trades no. 6 to Miami Dolphins for no. 9 pick and no 60 (from Patriots). Miami selects JaMarcus Russell, Louisiana State

Why?: Miami makes this trade if Russell is still on the board. This would get them the QB they DESPERATELY need and after trading for Trent Green (Which seems to be well on its way) will give them a solid QB situation for many, many years. They would have to give up a 2nd rounder (from the Pats) in order to make this happen according to the point system. If Cleveland decides to take Russell instead of Quinn which is always possible, then Miami could jump up and grab Quinn.

7. Minnesota Vikings Select Adrian Peterson, Oklahoma

Why?: I realize this doesn't make much sense given Chester Taylor is a great RB and was very effective with the Vikings last year. Still, you can never have too many good Running backs and having a two-back duo has been popular in recent years (look at the Saints). Peterson is an outstanding back and I can't see him slipping past the top 10. Remember, the Saints still took Reggie Bush with the no. 2 overall pick when they had Deuce.

8. Atlanta Falcons Select LaRon Landry, Louisiana State

Why?: Landry is a very quality safety and something the Falcons need. They could elect to take a DE here (like Okeye) as well but I think safety is far more of a pressing need, especially given the talent of Landry. He should be a day 1 starter, is easily the best safety in the draft and should make an immediate impact with the club.

9. Washington Redskins (from Miami) Selects Amobi Okoye, Louisville

Why?: This kid is only 19 years old which still blows my mind. He is a great talent, and so raw that he can really turn out to be something special in this league. I don't figure he'll last past the top 10 and the Redskins should pounce all over him.

10. Houston Texans Select Levi Brown, Penn State

Why?: They just traded for Matt Schaub but there is no one to protect the Quarterback. If no one could protect David Carr, what makes you think they can protect Schaub any better? They need a franchise LT which Brown could give them.

So these are my 2007 nfl draft predictions, and some are far different than the "experts" I admit! Still, in my opinion I think this has just as good of a chance to happen as anything! It's completely up in the air and thats why I LOVE draft day and the NFL. Truly, absolutely anything can happen in this game we know and love.

Stop back soon to see 11-20, and please post your own Mock draft and comments!!

Many People are Asking... WHY are the Miami Dolphins About to Acquire Trent Green?

In case you haven't heard, the Kansas City Chiefs and Miami Dolphins are in very substantial talks in a long discussed trade, to send QB Trent Green to Miami. Everywhere I look, on forums, comments, emails, you name it, the general feeling is WHY!??!

Why would Miami surrender a draft pick for a 37 year old QB, when they haven't had a reliable starting QB since Dan Marino retired.

The answer to this is SO SIMPLE please let me try to explain!

Last year we traded a 2nd round draft pick for Daunte Culpepper. Nick Saban made this trade, not Cameron, so really Cameron owes nothing. After the training camp Miami just had this past weekend, Culpepper could not even RIDE A BIKE! Think about that for the second. If you were the coach, and your player's knee (who arguably plays one of the most important positions) was so bad that he had to use a stationary bike and couldn't play in any of the mini camps, do you think the coach would have confidence that you'll recover in two short months? Let alone learn a new offense on the field by the time the regular season opens.

The short answer is 'no', and Cameron knows it. Why Trent Green? Who else is available? We could have went after David Carr (who's to say we didn't) but then you have the argument that you're getting someone else's castoffs. Jimmy Johnson has always said, NEVER trade or pick up other teams castoffs to try to build around. It simply doesn't work. Frankly no one knows how good David Carr is because he played for such a horrible team, still he is very unproven.

Trent Green is a pro-bowler, thrown for 3000 and 4000 yards many many a times in his career and is very smart, reads defenses well and most importantly is the PERFECT mentor. He also knows Cameron's system and is very familiar with QB coach Terry Shea from his days in KC. Do you want Daunte teaching a rookie QB, when the guy can not even get on the field himself? Trent Green is a stop gap, he'll start this year and if Miami is close to the playoffs he'll play the entire year. Next year (or the year after, whenever he's ready) the new QB we draft, whether its Quinn, Stanton, Edwards, Russell or whoever Cameron likes the most, they'll ACTUALLY be ready to go. They'll have a smart, older vet to show them the ropes.

Why everyone thinks "Trent Green is the be all and end all" of the dolphins blows my mind. It's not like they'll give in to the Chiefs and trade a 2nd rounder... I figure they'll settle on a 4th rounder but whatever they decide to do I'd rather have a healthy Trent Green grooming my QB and running the offense than a injured Culpepper, who might I add will make about 6.8 million this year (5.5 in salary, 1.3 in bonus money IIRC). I realize Green missed a lot of games last year due to a concussion, but this kind of injury is no where near what Culpepper sustained. Trent green injury history apart from that is pretty spectacular in recent years.

All my two cents on the matter of course, I would love to hear what other people think of the trade after seeing the other side of it (and hopefully what Dolphins management are thinking too). I really have faith in Cameron and has ability to change around this team. We are going in the right direction, just be patient (Raise your hand if you said this when Saban was hired as I may have). :)

Take care, and until next time!

Blue Jays Put Ryan on 15 Day DL

The Toronto Blue Jays announced today that closer BJ Ryan will go on the 15-day DL list due to a "sprained" elbow.

According to ESPN, Toronto general manager J.P. Ricciardi told them on Sunday that he doesn't necessarily believe Ryan blew out his elbow. The Blue Jays medical staff is "leaning more toward a strained tendon," Ricciardi said.

This happened just one day after Ryan had a meltdown against the Tigers, giving up 4 runs and a blown save in the 10-7 loss. Ryan only blew 4 saves all of last year.

Hopefully this isn't a serious issue, he's a great closer! I was a big fan of this signing when it happened and I think he'll be back and stronger than ever. Now, if only Josh Towers can pitch every game like he pitched today, then maybe the Toronto Blue Jays go to world series! :)

Until next time!

Doc Halladay and Bonderman Might Have Pitched the Game of the YEAR!

WOW, what a Gem by both pitchers.

I don't understand how this wasn't the top story on ESPN this morning but the pitching matchup, Roy Halladay (Toronto) and Jeremy Bonderman (Detroit) pitched one of the best games I have ever seen.

Halladay ended up pitching the complete game for the win (all 10 innings of it) and Bonderman was relieved just in time for Fernado Rodney to serve one up to Alex Rios for a sac fly in the 10th and the loss.

Halladay allowed one run and six hits, striking out 2 in 10 innings, while Bonderman also allowed one run on six hits and struck out 4. Bonderman was pulled in the 9th, and you wonder how long these two horses would have went if the game didn't end then.

This was really one for the ages, and you definitely have to tip your hat to both pitchers, no matter which team you are a fan of. Both deserved this win and both showed why they can be counted on as Aces to their staffs.

Great game guys... great game!

Radulov Suspended Game 3 for Hit on Bernier

Alexander Radulov will miss one game for his hitting-from-behind incident involving Sharks forward Steve Bernier.

In Saturdays game at Nashville, Radulov had a vicious hit which sent Bernier into the boards. Bernier, finally was able to get up off the ice on his own but went immediately to the locker room and did not return.

According to league rules, a player who earns two game misconducts in a playoff series has to sit out a game.

Pacman to Appeal

As stated in an article on ESPN, Pacman is very unhappy with the decision to suspension given out to him by commissioner Goodell.

"Titans cornerback Adam "Pacman" Jones said Friday night he will appeal his season-long suspension and thinks NFL commissioner Roger Goodell made him the league's poster boy for disciplining players."

Jones and Chris Henry were both suspended, however, Chris Henry received an 8 game suspension instead of Jones's full year. Given Pacman Jones character, at least how it currently stands, I guess Goodell decided Jones needed a year to think about his actions. Pacman Jones and Las Vegas will always be remembered by the league in a negative way... I feel it is up to Pacman to turn it around.

How do you feel about the rulings handed out by the commish?

Dante Hall on the Trading Block

According to rotoworld, the Kansas City Chiefs are shopping Dante Hall.

This isn't a huge surprise, since Hall was loved by Dick Vermil, however, Herm Edwards do not really see Hall as apart of the teams long term plans.

I think he would be a great pickup for anyone looking for a quality return guy and 3rd WR (Possibly from the slot). I would suspect it would take somewhere around a late 3rd or early 4th round draft pick to acquire Hall, but it'll be interesting to see if any other teams pull the trigger before draft day.

This isn't the first trade rumors surrounding KC this off-seasons. The Chiefs have been in long time discussions with a few teams (most notably the Dolphins and Browns) about trading former Pro-Bowl QB Trent Green. It is believed both teams have balked at the 2nd rounder Peterson and the Chiefs were asking for, but anything can happen between now and draft day.

Tribe Ink Westbrook to 3 year - $33 million dollar contract

The Cleveland Indians wasted no time in signing soon to be (at season's end) FA, Jake Westbrook.

Westbrook is a very reliable starter in the league and given the prices of .500 pitchers such as Gil Meche (5 year, $55 million) and Ted Lilly (4 year, $40 million), this could prove to be a steal.

Westbrook has won 44 games the past three seasons. Since 2004, only Westbrook, Cleveland teammate Cliff Lee, Minnesota's Johan Santana and Tiger's Kenny Rogers have won at least 14 games in each season. Last year, Westbrook went 15-10, winning a major league-high eight games after August 1st.
